Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is my factory warranty voided if I use your products instead of OEM?

There may be some automotive dealer service representatives that falsely claim that OEM branded products must be used during the warranty period; this is not true.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act and general principles of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act, an equipment manufacturer may not make its warranty conditional on the use of any specific brand of product unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty.

Products used here are designed and manufactured at high quality standards in order to meet or exceed the performance requirements of equipment manufacturers. Through proper use and application, products used at Beverly Hills Auto Service will provide exemplary performance for the equipment in which they are used and will not compromise the equipment warranty.

2. When should I change my wiper blades ?

Your wipers are exposed to the elements and dry out and crack just like your skin in the winter. For safety's sake, change them every six months. You never know when you'll need them.

3. I've never changed transmission fluid before, why now ?

The number one cause of transmission failure is oxidized fluid! Automatic transmission fluids experience much higher operating temperature than motor oil. Especially with a majority of vehicles having an overdrive transmission, the strain on the fluid is substantially increased. Consider changing your transmission fluid every 30,000 to 40,000 miles.

4. Why change my engine coolant ?

Engine coolant is exposed to many contaminants during the combustion process. Even with today's permanent and extended life anti-freeze, claiming to last up to five years or 100,000 miles, regular maintenance is required. Engine coolant over time becomes acidic and can harm your cooling system. Automotive experts recommend changing your coolant every two years or 24,000 miles.

5. My dealer and owners manual recommend changing my oil every 6,000 - 7,500 miles for normal driving, why do you say every 3,000 ?

All I can say is your dealer and all auto manufactures sell cars!! We want your car to last longer, be more fuel efficient, and problem free! Even if you lease. If the following is your "normal driving", read on:

Short Trip / Stop & Go

Extended Idling

High Temperature Operation

Extreme Cold

Heavy Loads

Dusty Conditions

Under these conditions, automakers require that drain intervals be reduced to three (3) months or 3,000 miles. Compare this to "normal" drain intervals to 6,000 to 12,000 miles. These types of service are severe indeed.

Most drivers don't realize severe conditions are not uncommon. It is estimated that we operate our vehicles 80% of the time under severe service. Therefore, Pennzoil feels it is wise to establish 3,000 mile or three (3) month drain intervals to assure proper maintenance unless you are sure that your driving falls under the normal category.
